About this tool

Extra spaces sneak into text more often than they should — copied from PDFs, pasted from emails, carried over from poorly formatted documents. This tool removes leading and trailing spaces, collapses multiple spaces into one, and cleans up blank lines. Your text comes out clean and consistent.

How to use Remove Extra Spaces

  1. Paste the text with the unwanted spacing

  2. Choose what to clean: all extra spaces, leading/trailing spaces only, or blank lines

  3. The cleaned text appears instantly

  4. Copy and use it in your document, database, or wherever the text is going

Frequently asked questions

What counts as an extra space?
Two or more spaces between words, spaces at the start or end of a line, and blank lines in the middle of a paragraph. The tool collapses all of these to their single-space equivalent.
Will it affect formatting intentionally done with spaces?
If you have deliberately used multiple spaces for alignment or visual formatting, those will be reduced. Use tabs or proper formatting tools for intentional alignment.
Does it work on code?
Use it with caution on code — indentation and spacing in code is usually intentional. It works well on prose, lists, and document text where spacing is about readability rather than syntax.
